The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho/MEXT) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities and schools. 

MEXT Scholarship 2020 application

Eligibility:
Only Bangladeshi citizens can apply for these programs through the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh.

All application should be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh.

Categories of the MEXT scholarship:

  2.  Undergraduate Students
  3.  Specialized Training School Students
  4.  College of Technology Students

For Research students:

Application for the MEXT 2020 Research Students Scholarship is now OPEN.
Duration: Approx. 2 years or more depending on the program (please refer to the Application Guidelines for more details)
Outline of Eligibility: Degree: Bachelor's degree or higher / Age: born on or after April 2, 1985 (for the 2020 recruitment) / Study Area: the same field that the applicant has studied, or a related field / Citizenship: Bangladeshi
Departure Date: April or October 2020
Placement at University: Designated by MEXT, based on your admission or a letter of provisional acceptance you obtain from Japanese universities.
Application Deadline: May 22, 2019
Selection Process:
  1. Application Submission: To the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh (Application Form)
  2. Documents Review.
  3. Examination (Japanese and English) : June 22.
  4. 1st screening notification : July.
  5. Obtain admissions or letters of provisional acceptance.
  6. 2nd screening notification : December 2019 to January 2020.
  7. Acceptance notification : Following February.

For Undergraduate students:

Application for the MEXT 2020 Undergraduate Students Scholarship is now OPEN.
Duration: Approx. 4-6 years depending on the program (please refer to the Application Guidelines for more details)
Outline of Eligibility: Education: High school diploma or higher / Age: born on or after April 2, 1995 (for the 2020 recruitment) / Citizenship: Bangladeshi
Departure Date: April 2020
Placement at University: Designated by MEXT, based on your fields and subjects choices.
Application Deadline: May 22, 2019
Selection Process:
  1. Application Submission: To the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh (Application Form)
  2. Documents Review.
  3. Examination (Japanese, English, Mathematics and Science*) : June 22.
    *Only for applicants who choose Natural Science field.
  4. 1st screening notification: July.
  5. Acceptance notification : January 2020.

For specialized Training Students: 

Application for the MEXT 2020 Specialized Training College Students Scholarship is now OPEN.
Duration: 3 years (including one-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan. Please refer to the Application Guidelines for more details.

Outline of Eligibility: Education: Those who are enrolled in a post secondary course at a specialized training college, or who are receiving preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects prior to placement at the specialized training college. / Age: born on or after April 2, 1995 (for the 2020 recruitment) / Citizenship: Bangladeshi
Departure Date: April 2020.
Application Deadline: May 22, 2019.
Selection Process:
  1. Application Submission: To the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh (Application Form)
  2. Documents Review.
  3. Examination (Japanese, English, Mathematics and Chemistry or/and Physics) : June 22nd.
  4. 1st screening notification: July.
  5. Acceptance notification : January 2020


For College of Technology students:

Application for the MEXT 2020 College of Technology Students Scholarship is now OPEN.
Duration: 4 years (one-year preparatory Japanese language course, and then enrolled into the third year of the course at the college of technology and receive specialized education for three years). Please refer to the Application Guidelines for more details.

Outline of Eligibility: Education: Applicants must be eligible for transferring admission to a third-year course at a collge of technology at the time of application./ Age: born on or after April 2, 1995 (for the 2020 recruitment) / Citizenship: Bangladeshi
Departure Date: April 2020.
Application Deadline: May 22, 2019.
Selection Process:

  2. Documents Review
  3. Examination (Japanese, English, Mathematics and Chemistry or/and Physics)  : June 22
